History

The Institute of Child Health as a part of the project planned to impart training and education to the followings:-

  1. The doctors, for the postgraduate qualification in the field of Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Surgery. Post Fellowship training to the doctors who wished to work in specialized fields of Paediatric – recognized for FCPS-II training in six specialties.
  2. The nurses for their diplomas and post diploma qualifications – since April 1994 functioning.
  3. The paraprofessionals and Allied Health Profession in various fields.

ORGANIZATIN OF DEPARTMENT:-

The Department has following subdivisions:-
  1. Department of Continued Medical Education
  2. The School of Allied Health Sciences
  3. The School of Nursing

1. Department of Continued Medical Education

The Department of Medical Education was established in 1999, at The Children’s Hospital & The Institute of Child Health, Lahore. The Hospital is recognized by College of Physician and Surgeon Pakistan for postgraduate training, and is also recognized for house job by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council. There are 201 FCPS-II and 27 MCPS trainees are currently getting training in the following disciplines.

  • Paediatric Medicine
  • Paediatric Surgery
  • Hematology
  • Orthodontics
  • Diagnostic Radiology

School for Nursing is working since April 1994 which is part of The Children’s Hospital & the Institute of Child Health, Lahore. There are three Hundred and Sixty (360) students nurses are currently getting training.
