DEPARTMENT OF NEPHROLOGY

INTRODUCTION

Paediatric Nephrology unit at the Children’s Hospital & ICH started functioning in 1998, staffed by health care personnel dedicated to Child Nephrology. It flourished from a 5 bedded ward to 14 bedded ward with separate Haemodialysis and CAPD units catering patients 475 in 2000 to approximately 1700 in 2009 & this load is increasing day by day. Like other disciplines of the hospital it is officially twined with York Hill Hospital Glasgow, UK and this has made important contribution towards teaching and training of our staff and Pediatricians from different corners of the Punjab.

The department strives to provide quality care to the kidney patients of the country. Our services include both in-patient consultation with full service Haemodialysis, acute and chronic peritoneal dialysis, percutaneous renal biopsies and nutritional advice.
